Also, I want to remind you that in any situation where you think you come into contact with any "germ"* that you should wash yourself. Hands, arms, under fingernails, and use a good nail brush with good soap to scrub the areas under your fingernails if you have had your hands in any kind of body fluids from someone else [ taking care of a sick child or spouse for instance]; and lather up and leave soap on for a few minutes; and
then wash your entire body if you have been in an environment where lots of germs were, [like in a public gathering for instance at a
a parade, or demonstration of some sort] before hugging your children or spouse. Germs are spread in several ways, by air droplets if they are germs that grow in the lungs or bronchial tree and breathed in and out, by hand to hand transmission like shaking hands with an infected person or one who coughs, spits, sneezes, but does not wash hands, or body, because those coughed out germs get on everything in the immediate vicinity. It is sort of like a mini-explosion of germs if you want to think of it that way, and to protect yourself, WASH your hands and your body IF you think you may have been exposed to 'germs" anywhere. And if you know for certain that someone  in your household is sick then if you could afford it the safer method is to buy those inexpensive gloves from a Pharmacy and wear them when cleaning up after a sick person and then wash your hands when you remove gloves. Gloves are only a practical barrier to the germs and are not foolproof and therefore if you tear a glove, remove it and wash yourself immediately.
Proper handwashing with good soap and covering the upper arms too, is the most basic protection against infection with any type of bacteria or virus. If you come into contact with another person's stool or vomit, you MUST wash your hands always immediately; if there was a spray of those germs then you must also wash your self thoroughly all over!

*Footnote, about the use of the word 'germ": proper name would be  either bacteria or virus but bacteria is different from virus, but people not in health care as a profession, tend to  use both words simultaneously as synonyms for germ but that
is not true. Bacterias are treated by antibiotlcs and viruses are not.

Also for ways to achieve emergency decontamination of the drinking water see the entry I added to my blog at:
http://gloriapoole.bravediary.com a few days ago that is entitled " Pray GOD removes Mugabe * ends cholera". Cholera is raging in some countries and it has to be prevented by preventing the spread of the cholera bacteria.
